Character, description

Extremely decorative because of the variations between light and dark zones. Ash can easily be processed with all tools. Surfaces turn out very smooth. Drying must be done at moderate temperatures and not too quickly. Only a slight tendency to warp. Ash is suitable for all types of finish, especially for colourful dyes which pose no problems. Glue works well with ash and results in durable joints. Pre-pierced screw coupling is recommended. Burr ash, a delicate wood, has a totally different aspect. The texture of the wood mixes with alternating dark and light brown undulate growth and numerous coloured loops. Striking contrasts give ash olive varnish a remarkably restless appearance.
