African red wood and not « Mahogany Sapelli ». semi-hard and semi-heavy, this only slightly textured wood, of a lovely reddish-brown colour with a golden glow, has a fine texture and a straight grain. It gives off a pleasant peppery scent. It is found only in the early XXth century, either as veneer or solid. Most often quartered to show off its ribboned aspect. Sometimes moiré, undulate or pommelé timber is found, and are sought-after for their decorative aspect.
